Punk Buddhism

For those who are struggling with addiction, anger, fear, or other issues that are interfering with peace of mind, but who may find many Bay Area meditation groups to be too granola, Against The Stream could be for you. Against The Stream is an alternative Buddhist meditation society founded by author Noah Levine, a former addict and incarcerated youth who was able to utilize Buddhist philosophy & practices to conquer his own demons and ultimately provide tools to others who may be struggling with similar issues. He's the author of four books: Dharma Punx, Against The Stream, Heart of the Revolution, and his brand-new title Refuge Recovery.

Against The Stream is so popular in the Bay Area that they've begun raising funds to open a meditation center in San Francisco to accommodate their ever-growing community. Check it out here.
